The following information is in support of MIRA:
The Law Offices of Lisa A. Modecker & Associates support Mario Quiroz in his efforts to undertake a photo documentary project he is calling Arizona and the End of Five Centuries of Immigration. The project would document the effects of Arizona law SB 1070 among Arizona immigrants themselves. Unfortunately the law still empowers the state to arrest anyone who transports or picks up undocumented immigrants, and it mandates the arrest of any state or local official who does not "fully enforce" federal immigration law. Mario Quiroz would capture all this as he spends a few weeks traveling the state, meeting Latinos and other immigrants, and recording their reactions to this crisis in words and images. An internationally recognized photographer Quiroz is a native of El Salvador and a longtime immigrant advocate. He worked full-time with our sister coalition outside Washington D.C., Casa de Marlyland, and he has graciously helped MIRA on numerous occasions since moving to Cambridge a few months ago.
